Cafe Rino is the winner of the New Horizons Coffee Blend Competition! Held during the 29th ZUCHEX International Home and Kitchenware Fair, organised in Tüyap Beylikdüzü, the New Horizons Coffee Blend Competition for Turkish Coffee was among the cultural events featured during the Fair for the first time this year.
During the Competition, supported by the Turkish Coffee Culture and Research Association (TKKD), Atilla Narin acted as the barista. In accordance with the Competition’s rules of confidentiality, the names of the 35 participating coffee companies, which each submitted a special blend, were not announced. The jury, consisting of the members of the Baristas Association, evaluated the blend submitted by Cafe Rino as the best: the coffee consisted of Ethiopia Harar (90 percent) and Brazil Minas (10 percent).
The Competition took place at the Coffee Square, located in the exhibition area of Zuchex 2018 International and sponsored by Kütahya Ceramics. Turkey's leading brands, including Korkmaz, Goldmaster, Fakir and Sinbo, supported the event with coffee makers, while Turkish delight was contributed by Şekerci Cafer Erol, and the Abant firm offered its healthy and natural waters.
Bringing together the leading players and stakeholders in the household and kitchenware sector, Zuchex 2018 hosted unique events and special exhibitions, as well as presenting exciting innovations. Within this scope, the first Turkish coffee blend competition held in our nation took place during Zuchex 2018 under the auspices and support of the Turkish Coffee Culture and Research Association (TKKAD). Cafe Rino, with its special blend, was awarded the Gold Medal in the final of the event, which drew great interest from coffee brands, exhibitors and fair visitors. TTKAD management intends to repeat this competition at different places and times.
